Greenspan Brings the Jewish Deli Back to Its Roots

RC Provisions customer Mish was profiled in the Larchmont Buzz:

“My whole career has been spent trying to create things you can only get from us,” he told the Buzz. “You can only get the Mish bagel at Mish.”

He is equally focused on brisket and pastrami, developed over two years with Los Angeles-based RC Provisions. The brisket is slow-roasted rather than smoked, borrowing from Texas barbecue while preserving the sweet-and-sour profile of traditional Jewish brisket. The pastrami has quickly become a signature.

“I think we have arguably the best pastrami in the world,” Greenspan said to the Buzz.

Greenspan points to longtime Los Angeles institutions like Factors Famous Deli, serving Angelenos on Pico since 1948, Canter’s, which opened in 1931 in Boyle Heights before opening the Fairfax location in 1948, and Langer’s Delicatessen-Restaurant, which just celebrated 79 years in business, as part of the lineage Mish builds on.

“Canter’s is a hub, a headquarters for Los Angeles,” said Greenspan. “Factors and Langer’s have been doing this at an incredibly high level for decades. We stand on the shoulders of giants.”
